BrightGlobe is committed to handling personal data responsibly, transparently, and only for legitimate purposes connected with our learning programs, books, events, communications, opportunities, and related operations. We seek to collect only information that is relevant to these purposes and to protect it using reasonable organizational, physical, and technical safeguards.

01

BrightGlobe operates through brightglobe.academy and may also use authorized platforms and service providers to support registrations, bookings, payments, book purchases, event management, communications, analytics, and other business functions.

We do not seek to collect sensitive personal information unless it is reasonably necessary for a specific purpose, legally permitted, and appropriately disclosed. If a program or event requires information such as accessibility, dietary, health, identification, or other sensitive details, we will seek to limit collection to what is necessary for that purpose.

04

How we collect personal data

We may collect personal data directly from you, automatically through website technologies, or through authorized service providers and business partners involved in a transaction or activity.

Examples include information you enter when registering for an event, enrolling in a program, subscribing to updates, purchasing a book, requesting an invoice, emailing us, or submitting an inquiry. We may also receive transaction or fulfillment information from platforms used to process bookings, payments, product purchases, deliveries, or registrations.

  • complying with applicable laws, regulations, lawful orders, and regulatory requirements; and
  • carrying out other compatible purposes that are properly disclosed or permitted by law.
06

Bases for processing

Depending on the circumstances, we may process personal data on one or more grounds recognized under applicable law. These may include your consent, the performance of a contract or steps requested before entering into a contract, compliance with a legal obligation, protection of vital interests, and legitimate interests pursued by BrightGlobe or another person where permitted by law and balanced against the rights and freedoms of the data subject.

For example, we may need your name and email address to confirm a course booking, a delivery address to fulfill a book order, transaction records for accounting and tax purposes, or your consent to send optional marketing communications.

07

Bookings, enrollments, and purchases

When you book a BrightGlobe event or learning experience, enroll in a program, or purchase a book or other product, we may collect or receive information necessary to complete and administer that transaction.

This may include your identity and contact details, the item or experience selected, participant or attendee details, billing or delivery information, payment status, transaction reference, applicable discounts, invoice information, and communications related to the transaction.

Commerce infrastructure. BrightGlobe is owned and operated by Nedlegs Incorporated. Certain transactions may be supported by Simplicitive Ventures, Inc., a separate company within the broader business ecosystem. Depending on the transaction, HarborPoint Store may support product commerce, including physical books, while The Trove Place may support service commerce, including courses, events, and bookings. When you transact through those services, their own notices, terms, and privacy practices may also apply.
08

Payments and financial information

Payments may be processed through banks, payment gateways, e-commerce platforms, digital wallets, card processors, or other authorized payment service providers. Information required to authorize and complete a payment may be collected and processed directly by those providers.

BrightGlobe does not intentionally request or store your complete payment card credentials when those credentials are handled directly by a payment processor. We may receive limited information associated with a transaction, such as your name, billing details, amount paid, payment method category, transaction reference, status, or other information necessary for reconciliation, fulfillment, refunds, accounting, or customer support.

Your use of a third-party payment service is also subject to that provider's terms and privacy practices.

09

BrightGlobe Updates and email communications

If you subscribe to BrightGlobe Updates, we may use your name, email address, subscription preferences, and engagement information to send news about courses, books, events, opportunities, and other relevant BrightGlobe offerings.

BrightGlobe currently intends to use MailerLite or another authorized email service provider to manage subscriptions and send these communications. Such providers may process subscriber information on our behalf in accordance with their contractual obligations and privacy practices.

You may unsubscribe from optional marketing emails at any time using the unsubscribe link included in those messages. Unsubscribing from marketing communications does not necessarily prevent us from sending transactional or service-related messages that are necessary for a booking, purchase, event, program, account, legal obligation, or other ongoing relationship.

10

Events, photographs, video, and recordings

BrightGlobe events and learning activities may be photographed, filmed, livestreamed, or otherwise documented. Where appropriate, we may provide advance notice at registration, through event materials, at the venue, or through another reasonable means.

Images, recordings, or testimonials may be used for legitimate documentation, educational, archival, editorial, communications, or promotional purposes where there is an appropriate legal basis. Where consent is required, we will seek it in an appropriate manner.

If you have a privacy concern regarding identifiable event media featuring you, contact us at [email protected] so we can review the circumstances and your request.

11

Cookies, analytics, and website technologies

Our website may use cookies, pixels, local storage, log files, analytics technologies, content-delivery and security services, or similar tools to operate the site, remember preferences, protect against abuse, understand website performance, and measure how visitors interact with BrightGlobe.

For more detail, please refer to our separate Cookie Policy once available.

12

13

International data processing

BrightGlobe serves a globally minded community and may use technology providers whose systems, personnel, or data centers are located outside the Philippines. As a result, personal data may in some circumstances be processed, stored, accessed, or transferred in another country.

Where cross-border processing occurs, we seek to handle personal data consistently with applicable Philippine data protection requirements and use reasonable safeguards appropriate to the circumstances.

14

How long we keep personal data

We retain personal data only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, to maintain appropriate business and transaction records, to comply with accounting, tax, contractual, regulatory, or legal requirements, to resolve disputes, to enforce agreements, or to protect legitimate business interests.

Retention periods may therefore vary depending on the type of information and the nature of our relationship with you. When personal data is no longer required, we may securely delete, destroy, anonymize, or otherwise dispose of it in a manner appropriate to the data and the systems involved.

15

How we protect personal data

We take reasonable and appropriate organizational, physical, and technical measures designed to protect personal data against accidental or unlawful destruction, alteration, loss, unauthorized disclosure, unauthorized access, misuse, or other unlawful processing.

These measures may include access controls, account security, encrypted connections, security monitoring, website and network protections, backups, software maintenance, vendor controls, staff practices, and other safeguards appropriate to the nature of the information and the risks involved.

No website, transmission method, cloud system, or storage environment can be guaranteed to be completely secure. We therefore continuously seek to use reasonable safeguards while recognizing that absolute security cannot be promised.

16

Your privacy rights

Subject to applicable law and the circumstances of the processing, data subjects may have rights under the Philippine Data Privacy Act of 2012 and related rules and issuances. These include rights relating to being informed, access, objection, correction or rectification, erasure or blocking, damages, data portability, and the filing of a complaint.

You may also withdraw consent where processing is based on consent, subject to the effect of withdrawal on future processing and to any lawful grounds that permit or require continued processing.

To exercise a privacy right or ask a question about your personal data, email [email protected] with the subject line Privacy Request. To protect personal data, we may need to verify your identity and obtain sufficient information to understand and properly respond to your request.

You may also contact or file a complaint with the National Privacy Commission of the Philippines when appropriate.

17

Minors and younger participants

Some BrightGlobe learning activities or events may be appropriate for younger participants. Where personal data of minors is collected, we will seek to apply safeguards appropriate to the activity, the participant's age, applicable law, and the nature of the information involved.

Where parental or guardian authorization is required, we may request appropriate consent or information before permitting participation or processing certain personal data. Parents or guardians with privacy questions concerning a minor may contact us using the details below.

19

Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as BrightGlobe grows, our services change, our technology stack evolves, or legal and regulatory requirements develop. When we make material changes, we will update the date shown at the top of this page and may provide additional notice where appropriate.

We encourage you to review this page periodically to understand our current privacy practices.
